Default Q: Idler pulley options? - Series VI

Okay I did a quick search and didn't find a thread on this so here goes. I'm looking to upgrade the pulleys on my car. I run the v-10 water pump pulley, mosaleen system and would like to replace the pulleys with units from thump racing. Just curious with out going out an measuring everything what sizes I will need and how many of each. Is there a kit for a Saleen SC'd car?

There should only be two idler pulleys you need. The pulley before the PS pulley (90mm) and the pulley in the alternator bracket (76mm). I tried a Thump idler for the alternator bracket pulley and it was too wide and would require clearancing the bracket. I ended up with billet aluminum Metco pullies.

The plastic one w/ Saleen supercharger kit is notorious for having the bearing seize up and snap a belt. Good call to update . Shameless plug to new modders I have a belt, V10 water pump pulley , and Mosaleen system for sale super cheap. All new and never installed . PM me

Got an email from Rick at Metco and he suggested the 1.5" 90mm idler pulley instead of the 1" (6rib). Can anyone confirm getting ready to place an order.

Thanks

Not sure why he wants you to use the wider pulley, but it shouldn't be a problem in that location. It becomes a problem if it's the pulley behind the alternator bracket.

update on my pulley replacement. The Metco pulleys arrived one 76 and one 90. However since I'm running the Mosaleen system I actually needed two 76mm. So I'll be sending the 90 back and getting another 76. For those running a similar system and a 3.0 pulley /v-10 water pump you cannot run a 106 inch belt. It will not work. 106.5 is the smallest you can use.
