Default Q: SLP Loudmouths? - 2002 S281 SC

So I have seen a thread or two on mufflers. I am torn between the Borla mufflers and the SLP Loudmouths. I am leaning toward the SLP brand. But I cannot find any type of web site for them. Anyone have an idea what the site is called. And what are your opinions on the SLP Muffler products. I want the car louder but not so loud that I cannot hear my music. Any help would be awesome.

Can't remember hearing them on a new edge, but I've been in other cars with them.
Drone was awful.
With that said, I do like slp products, just not their mufflers.

Regular borla mufflers and slp loudmouths are two very different sounds.

You may not be able to find them because slp was bought out by roush a year or two back.

Oh ok. Well I don't want that drone sound. I just wanted something a bit louder.

Look into dynomax ultraflo welded mufflers. Pretty nice when you are on it, low drone level. They have a non welded version too, but they are cheesy chrome mufflers.
I run them now on my fox which has a 4.6 terminator engine.

I didn't buy them for the sound, I bought the catback because it will work with a panhard bar in most cases. The sound was just a nice bonus.
They are known in the mustang community as the goto muffler if you don't want any drone.

I have SLP loudmouths on a 08 GT 500. It isn't a muffler at all, they are a cat back pipes. Maybe they have muffler options too, but that isn't what I have. It's pretty loud, but not like long tubes and no cats.

Sorry I can't comment, that's not what I have. My gut tells me that the SLP will be louder than the Borla. Here is a link to SLP, that you asked for in your initial post.

Something else to consider is that the slp mufflers are straight in and straight out tubes. While I don't know what the borla's look like on your s281, my guess would be they are an offset in and out. Meaning they will be a little more work to install and undo if you don't like it.

Did you look into bassani? Probably my favorite exhaust brand, just not PHB friendly or that's what I would be running.
How about 2.5 catted x pipe? Normally i'd say go offroad that gives the deep sound everyone loves, but I see you are in California and that probably won't go over well.

I like Bassani. I cant really find much on the sound they produce. I looked on Youtube but I am not finding much. There website sucks. I thought about just calling them and talking to them. I never thought about those SLP mufflers being straight. That may cause a problem. California sucks with its smog laws and I don't want to alter to much and have trouble down the road trying to get it smogged.

I've heard pretty much all mustang exhausts (pays to have friends that owned a mustang only shop).
Rarely does an internet clip give you a real idea of how an exhaust sounds.
Even my own car on the dyno in a video did not sound accurate.

I'd probably consider an entire catback instead of changing just the mufflers if it's in your budget and fits with the saleen kit properly.
Things are never the same again once you cut and weld mufflers in.
You can then store and preserve the borla.

Not sure if it's still so, but the last time I saw a bassani catback on a new edge it also had removable baffles that went in the tailpipe that allowed the sound to be altered slightly.

Edit: For the record, the mufflers on my dyno video are 3 chamber flowmasters, no cats.
Not the dynomax ultraflo currently on the car.

I agree with you. Once you start cutting and replacing it may not be so cool. I am thinking about doing headers and everything at this point.
