A few items jumped out to me.

1) IMO this is not an original SC Saleen as per fender badges. I feel they added the SC after the fact.

2) While the last owner had her for 10 years....5 owners would scare me.

Get the VIN and call Saleen, they will verify if it's legit.

Then make sure you have someone you trust to check it out.

If it's legit, good price IMO.

If it's not legit as an original SC, then the price is high.

Good luck.

A few more items

3) Non factory Saleen center dash gauges

4) 2005 SC Saleen came with 400 hp

5) Where the rear wing spoiler?

6) This is not a GT-R Saleen.

IMO someone took a Mustang GT and made it a clone.

Again, call Saleen to verify.

I e been calling 1800-888-8945 the past 2 days but it keeps going to voicemail. Is there another number I can try? I also sent an email but have not received a reply.

I spoke with the dealer again today, didn’t sound like they knew to much about the vehicle other than it says saleen everywhere. Is there any other way of authenticating it? I don’t want this one to slip away if it is in fact a true saleen SC.

There should be other saleen markings on the undercarriage.

Plus on the right side of the dash (plastic badge showing 05- xxxx) and and another badge in the engine compartment on the left side (facing) the firewall.

Any chance of original window sticker that will show it's a legit SC Saleen?

This is old by try emailing techline@saleen.com with VIN and bumper number.

Unfort it could be hit or miss on them answering the phone.

So I went and took a couple photos of the stickers and badges on the vehicle. What do you think? Dealer wasn’t sure about the wing, said the previous owner told them it was tuned by gtr. And the center gauges are not original.

Badges all looks legit.

Call GTR to see if they have any records.

Car has been drive 500 miles in 3 years. (Carfax)

The center gauges could have been changed as the 05's didn't produce much light and are pretty much worthless at night.

I know you want the car and I'm sure it's a legit Saleen, but SC is another story.

I would still try again and again to get ahold of Liz or Gregg at Saleen.

Of course you could do the ultimate and drive to Saleen with your info in hand to confirm.

What’s is a fair price if it is not a true Saleen SC?

Send me the Ford VIN and Saleen serial number and I will verify the vehicle.

PS: The Michigan contact information for Saleen is very old and not valid.

Yes. This is a real, serialized 2005 S281 3-Valve coupe.

Original ordering dealer was Santa Maria Ford in California.

This vehicle was built with one Saleen option, the Wheel & Tire Upgrade.

In MY 2005 there were 146 (estimate) Mineral Grey S281 Mustangs produced. Of these 110 were 3-Valve models. Of those, 103 were in the coupe body style.

Of the 103 coupes, 101 were 5-speed manual transmission cars. Of those 101... 61 had the optional Wheel & Tire package.

So this vehicle is a true SC model?

No. It was born a 3-Valve model.
  • S281 3-Valve = No Supercharger
  • S281 Supercharged = Supercharger
  • S281 Extreme = Supercharger

After talking with the dealer and letting them know information on vehicle, I offered them a cash offer of $14,000. They obviously countered my offer with $19,500. I told them I was in no rush to purchase, so if they wanted to think about my offer and get back to me, my offer still stands. We’ll see if they get back. Once again thanks for your guys help. I really appreciate it. Thank you

Guess my suspensions were confirmed on the SC.

Glad you held off on purchasing it for the listed price, but 19.5 really isn't that bad for a Saleen with an added SC.
