Exclamation S281 extreme matching engine number

Can anyone tell me how I can Authenticate the engine number on an extreme model please. I have a s281 sc with matching numbers but am told the extreme it is not necessarily the case. I was about to purchase an extreme but got scared away when it wasn’t matching numbers. I have a friend that has an extreme with all the documents and his also isn’t matching number….

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "matching numbers."

If we're talking about engines, most likely all S197 Saleen Mustangs (2005-09) that have a built engine from Saleen (S281 Extreme, S302 PJ, S302 Extreme, H302, H302 SC, S302 SC, Dark Horse) do not have their original engine block nor cylinder heads from Ford Motor Company.

During Saleen conversion, the original engine came out of the car and a pre-built modified engine went in.

For vehicles with a 6-speed manual transmission, the OE 5-speed would be removed.

Thanks Dave
What I mean by matching numbers is that it has the original block. Just to get it clear in my mind what you are telling me is a 2006 built s281 and s281SC have the original block but a s281E doesn’t?
If that’s the case how do I know the engine is the Saleen pre built engine that was originally put into that VIN as you explained and not some replacement engine a previous owner has swapped out for what ever reason?
There doesn’t seem to be any documents from Saleen that link the two. There is a build sheet and extreme owners manual and neither have the engine number noted. Only the VIN.
