Default New owner here: 06-0026 Extreme

Hey all,

Ok I've been wanting an Exteme for at least 4 years and finally pulled it off. My question is what are some really good mods to add to my small list that will give me some significant gains? I'm thinking accufab/ford racing TB, ported intake lid and some exhaust work. I saw a video where JDM did some intake messaging and the ford racing bigger TB and got like 40+ WHP on an Extreme. Is this realistic or was that just a rare occasion? Do these cars react to a mild intake message with new TB like that normally? I've heard exhaust raised HP a bunch too. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So far I've got the overdrive crank pulley, HD tensioner, cold air intake, #60 injectors and a tune or so I would think. JDM told me that should be good for 600HP at crank. Let me know your thoughts guys. Thanks

Maybe 700 at the crank I think that's enough. I may not do it but just wanted ideas.

Give us a ring if we can help...but 700hp crank is going to require some really good suspension to plant that power, not that you dont need it now!

Mike O'Sullivan (forum member MOSBuild) owned your car. Mike had two 2006 S281 Extreme coupes. He purchased the cars when the economy took a dump. One was silver, the other was Tungsten. One Extreme was purchased "new in plastic" even though it was a used car.

Your car was purchased with frozen StopTech front calipers, if my memory is correct. So, Mike had a Ford Racing competition Brembo kit installed.

Mike was also friendly with JDM Engineering and they may have tuned these cars, maybe.

Enjoy!

Dave you are spot on! I have the Tungsten one. And his name was on the SCT tuner that I have. Yup upgraded six piston brembos up front. And I emailed JDM and they told me the setup is 600 at the crank. I'm not sure what happened after that but this thing loads up like crazy under heavy acceleration when cold and under a light load mostly any time so either it was tuned incorrectly after Mike did the upgrades or someone before me messed with the SCT. I'm having to bring it to a tuner down here in St. Pete to get it straightened out but I'm confident it will be running right soon.

Thanks Jason. I just ordered the lower center mesh grille to protect my intercooler from you guys. Yeah I'm trying to familiarize myself with these cars in more detail so that I do things in a strategic fashion. I've read/seen where JDM messaged the upper plenum and put on a ford racing / accufab TB and got like 40-50 whp so that is reassuring and I've also seen where a correct x-pipe/cat combo could yield a good amount of added power as well so if I were to do anything else those would be it. I don't want to really start tearing apart anything. And like you said suspension would surely follow.
