Default My story: 85-0128

I thought you may be interested in this. I Purchased 85 128 in 1989 from the original owner. Crazy documented every receipt etc. Red Gray. I was in a minor accident in 1992 or 1993 and didnt have the money to fix the car. it was just a fender and bumper cover. I sold it to a friend for $3500.00 in 1994. My Son is 13 and has made a lot of money cutting grass the past two summers. My buddy called me and asked if I wanted the car back, and I said no I had too many project, but my son was excited and bought it from him. In past decade or two a few parts were lost but all the important ones are there including a brand new front 3 piece ground effect I bought for the car. The car has the rear pieces, the wheels are mint, It has a factory Cal Custom alarm perfect interior etc. The only things that are not original are the rear which I replaced with an 8.8 / 373 when I sent the ring gear through the rear end cover drag racing in 1990, and one of the side ground effects are urethane, though it was like that when I got it. Not sure if this is correct or not. I also replaced the Radio and sold the original. I am missing the front plexiglass headlight covers. These were strange I remember they had little twist locking things. I also can not find the fiberglass antenna. but once I get those items (or my son gets them) The front end was primed and cut in 18 years ago ready to bolt on. It is really ready to paint. Anyway I thought it was a cool story of a 85 Saleen.

Hi and welcome to THE Saleen Forums @ SOEC.org! Your son sounds to have a great vehicle.

The 1984-86 Saleen rocker panels were fiberglass. They also have a difference in shape from the 1987-93 version.

Saleen used both velcro and snap headlight covers in 1985. The snap covers were produced by GTS and are still available (last we knew).

Some have said that a plastic antenna from a 3rd generation Camaro is a close replacement to what Saleen Autosport offered.

Sounds like a great re-purchase, I'd love to see some pics, even in it's present state!

my son is super excited. He pulled the interior out of it. Cleaned everything and pressure washed the carpet and mats. The original carpet looks 99% now. Gotta get a dash pad, a lock switch and a double power window cover. Then the interior will be 100%

Great story. Just a piece of advice, but if your young son will be daily driving the car, save the 3 piece front spoiler for later. Mount an '86 piece. We all know the things we did as late teenagers and early 20 year olds.
