Yes they made black floor mats for 87-93 cars. The foam backed ones are the ones sold thru the parts dept, the black rubber ones with the cut outs are original and rare. Hope this helps.

Default Saleen Mats

The gray set of 4 on the bottom is for an 88-93 and sounds like it is an ealier set.The pair of black on the top may not be for an 87-93 because they are cut different. The originals I have seen in the 88-93 look like your grey set and have a black sticky tar like back so they don't slide I guess.Later ones have foam on the back and the rear mats may or may not be cut to slide in between the front seat rails. This information is based on observations I have made over the last 20+ years

Default Floor mats

Funny, I just pulled my original set from the rafters (gray). I bought a second set in 1991 - same design - fortunately near new. Planning on restoring my original set - getting advice from my wife!

90-140 Where do you intend on getting your mats restored at? I have a set and would love to get restored.

Default Floor mats

Coupey, 87 vert, foxbody, Leenen -

Good post - this is interesting. My originals (black rubber backing), are in generally good shape - but the drivers side is crushed and soiled - as you'd expect. My wife recommended a professional carpet cleaner - to dry clean - and use their professional tools to improve the look in the areas that are crushed down in the corner (my right foot!).

The over the counter pair need a little work to be perfect, but I'd like to see how the first pair turn out.

Thanks -

Bob
