Default 2001 S281 oil filter

Hi everyone, I have a question about the type of oil filter the new edge Saleens use. I’ve owned plenty of mustangs from 5.0’s to the new edge mustangs and I’m very familiar with the oil filters they use from Motorcraft to FRAM etc. So I decided to change the oil on the 2001 S281 and when it came time to get under the car the oil filter was not the size or shape of the typical oil filter I have seen on mustangs. I had a 2002 convertible GT and that filter was a little shorter and a bit wider in circumference as were most filters for my mustangs I’ve owned. This filter is a little slimmer and taller and my oil filter cap remover was slightly bigger than this filter which I couldn’t remove at this time. After a little research it looks like it’s a STP filter but after calling auto part stores it appears that this may be for. 2001 6 cyl mustang but it mates up correctly. if anyone has some information if Saleen used a different filter than typical GT’S etc it would be helpful and if any one has an oil filter number they use on their new edge S281 would be great.

Well issue resolved. I was finally able to remove the generic oil filter on the S281 and even though it looked like a 6 cyl filter the threads on the filter were the normal standard size found on the Motorcraft, Mobil, K&N filter etc. So swapped it out for a normal size well known name brand and called it a day.

I've always used the Motorcraft 820S
