Default Help: Compression ratio? - 2001 S281 S/C

Does anyone know the stock compression ratio for a 2001 saleen s/c. I am replacing my pistons and rods with Manley pistons but I am not sure what dish cc size I should get or if I should get flat pistons. Planning on only staying on the 400hp range.

My Manley 18cc pistons give a 8.53:1 compression ratio per their spec sheets.

The SC has the same compression ratio as GT, as it is the same engine with a supercharger mounted on it. I believe it was 9.2, but 9.4 might be right... I know it is not in 8's.

I was thinking they used the stock pistons for the S/C models as well. With the blower, it should be higher than stock compression ratio though.

its stock gt compression. gt motor with a blower on top. they didnt touch the motor beyond that.

there is a small difference in compression depending on which year and which plant built the motor installed.

99-01 1/2 got windsors. 9.2 to 1
01 1/2 -04 got romeos. 9.4 to 1

Ok I am not to familiar with what pistons cc I should get. I know yellowpony281 is using 18cc. Should I try staying around stock compression?

If you are not looking for more power, then stick with Stock CR. Especially since you have a CA car...

Correct. Romeo vs. Windsor.

Good compression thread on the SVT forums....

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...rcharging.html

Bottom line: lower compression should be used with higher boost, yields a wider tuning window and helps reduce the chance of premature detonation of the fuel load in the cylinder. The stock CR of 9.2ish : 1 would be no problem for a Series I or II running at 6-7 lbs boost. My blower has run as high as 12-13psi, so we elected for a little lower CR and wider tuning window. . .
