Default Supercharger oil leak. NOOOO!!!!

Just got my 2002 s281 out of the first time this year, took my fiance out for a ride and I noticed something smelled funny. Got back home popped the hood and that is when I saw a small pool of oil filling up on top of the supercharger right in the front. Anyone else have a similar problem such as this. First time I've seen any oil right there must have just started leaking.

Theres all of about 3 possibilities that could cause that.
1. Most likely it is the eventual front snout seal
2. It could also be pushing oil out where the snout bolts to the supercharger housing.
3. If your really lucky it could be the o-ring on the oil fill plug.

We rebuild them. We are the only Authorized Shop for Saleen to service them. Its a very simple process, dont sweat it. Give us a call on Monday, or you can shoot me an email over the weekend.

Nope, but we're the only ones that seem to do them right! Proof is in the hands of those we've rebuilt!

That is good to know. What is your warranty? My work order does not mention one. Do you guys perform everything PSE does in their SC service?
PSE video of what is performed:

http://www.pse.us/categories/Saleen-Service.htm

Thanks!

The leak is coming from where the front snout mounts to the rest of the supercharger. Right in between the two bolts in at the top. I cleaned the oil up and let it run some more and you could see a little oil splashing out.

Thanks!
Wyatt,

Your warranty is 4 years or 40,000 miles against leaks and/or serviced defects. Our only disclaimer is if you snap a belt and/or over spin the blower, we will not warranty the snout seal if it becomes damaged due to that. But, since we always stand by our customer with a "Nordstrom" mentality, the disclosure becomes a byproduct of our commitment to our customer. Unlike them, our warranty is 100% transferable. Why should the new owner not get to keep the entitled warranty just because the car got sold?!?!

Moral of the story, we make mistakes Wyatt....and when they happen we stand alongside our customer to fix the problem without question or compromise. To me, the warranty is pointless because we'd be their regardless.

By the way, "their" warranty is 1 year. See below:

"All GM fully remanufactured superchargers carry a 3 Year warranty. PSE Superchargers will repair or replace, at our option and after inspection in our facility, any PSE remanufactured product found defective by means of material and/or workmanship. This warranty applies only to the original invoice vehicle owner/purchaser and is not transferable.

PSE One-Year Warranty

All other PSE products or rebuilt/remanufactured superchargers have a one-year from invoice date warranty against defective material and/or workmanship.

Limitations and Disclaimers

The warranty does not cover products that fail because of accident, alteration, misuse, neglect, racing, improper installation, non-factory pulley, abuse, or when used in applications for which they were not designed or approved.

The warranty does not cover removal, installation, reinstallation, transportation, labor, inconvenience, damage of other components, personal damage or injury and/or any injury or liability to other persons or property. Any merchandise being returned for restocking or warranty concerns must be packaged individually with appropriate packing materials to prevent any damage to the merchandise of any kind. Improperly packaged and unprotected merchandise may result in damage during transit voiding all warranties even if the merchandise was otherwise defective. Shipping companies will not assume liability for improperly packaged merchandise. In these scenarios customers will need to purchase new merchandise and any applicable cores"

I would seriously refrain from driving the car before you damage or destroy the drive assembly if you already haven't.

Thanks for responding back with that info. Do you service 100 percent of what PSE states in their video.

Thanks

Wyatt, I couldn't find their video. But we service 100% of the supercharger so I cant imagine there's anything they do that we don't. But there may be some hype to what there offering too if its more than we do. We know our methods are proven with all the success weve had with everyones superchargers.

We've also saved superchargers they've said we're trash and tried to sell them new parts at huge cost as reported to us by Saleen owners.

Have a great weekend! I'm off to move stuff to the new facility.

It's a scary feeling having something wrong with your prized car. I remember finding out mine was leaking, after I had just bought it! I would discontinue the cars use also, I've seen the pictures of damaged superchargers.

Jason @ 281 had great customer service, talked to me after hours, and had his guys on it right away as I was going to a car show. I feel they went above and beyond with me for my little panic attack. :)

I'm from Michigan so I don't think sending my supercharger out to California is cost effective. Gonna try to find someone in the area that can fix it. And hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks everyone.
