Default PJ Seat Fix

Hi,
I've owned #240 for 7 months, after buying it from my brother. I love the car but two things really irked me about it.
1. The seats. Supremely uncomfortable. After an hour in the car both me and my wife got out with pain across our shoulders. The rectangular "retro" padding at the top of the seat back is super hard, and the rest of the seat back padding in the orange section wasn't very good. I pulled the seats out and took them to an auto upholstery shop and asked him to fix them. He took them apart and said the seatback foam was just laid over the frame. Over time, the frame cuts through the foam and the center section of foam drops back into the seat structure, leaving you with no effective padding. The car only has 20k miles on it. The upholsterer added webbing to the seatback to support new foam , and replaced the foam in the top section with something much softer. Now the seats are great, and still look stock. The best 300bucks I've spent.
2. The shifter is awful. It's as vague as anything, and sometimes I can't find any gear. Once I had to pull over and stop because I couldn't get a gear. My fix is going to be to put in an MGW shifter. Once that's done, the car will be perfect.
Cheers,
Bob.
