Default Q: Ford Racing 2013-14 GT500 brake kit? - Saleen wheel fitment

Curious if this kit will clear the Saleen rims?

Do you have the 7-spoke wagon wheels or the 5-spoke forged wheels?

Some reported the previous GT500 Brembo front kit (2007-12), the back of the Saleen wagon wheel spokes scrapped the caliper face.

I'm Interested AS Well, But I'll Most Likely Go With Lightweight Wheels.

I highly doubt the 6 piston GT500 brakes will clear but to take full advantage of having the upgraded brakes, you're going to want to use some lighter wheels anyways. The 7 spokes are HEAVY and have way too much rotating mass. I plan on running the same brakes when I pick up another Saleen.

I used the 4 pot brembo brakes from a 2012 Shelby and like Dave said they scrapped, so I added 1/4" spacers to get them to clear the 7 spoke wagon wheels. Had no other issues and they worked great!

What brake upgrade packages doesn't rub other than Saleen?

Saleen used three calipers and two manufactures from 2005-09.

The early 2005 Saleen Mustangs used a 4-piston Brembo kit.

Mid-2005 to 2009 used a 4-piston StopTech kit.

The 2006 through 2009 Extreme used a 6-piston StopTech kit.

Side Note:

There are "different" Saleen wagon wheels in existence. Not only front 20x9, rear 20x9 and rear 20x10. There is also a variance model.

Right, but it once appeared Saleen produced "sets" of wheels with two different off-sets. Meaning you can find a front or rear wheel with a different off-set than what you have.

One car might have a set 7-spokes with spec 'A', another car might have set of 7-spokes with spec 'B'.

There appears to be two different sets of 7-spoke wheels. Not just the typical front and rear differences, but a completely different set.

Not sure if the 2005 models had their own wheels, or what. Or, I could be wrong and not recalling correctly.

The over-stock Saleen/StopTech 14" and 15" front brake kits still appear from time-to-time. Figure about $800.00-$1,400.00 for a new kit.

The 20x9 came in a 25mm & 30mm offset. The 20x10 came in a 45mm & 50mm. If it's the 30mm version that scrapes the 25mm version might clear. There was also a 20x9 with a 40mm offset for the square setup

I just went through brake upgrade madness. The 4 piston brembos did not clear my 7 spoke wagon wheels. I ended up just going with the stop tech kit.

The Brembos bolt directly to your caliper bracket, which causes them to really stick out towards the outside of the car.

The stoptech kit comes with a secondary relocation bracket that offsets the caliper more towards the inside of the car.

If you look at the stoptech kit and the brembo kit side by side the stoptech is bigger in nearly every dimension, but because of the relocation bracket, it clears with no problem. I'm guessing this is why Saleen chose this kit as the upgrade kit.

I added the Saleen Stoptech 14 inch calipers last summer. I considered Wilwoods, but I am glad I stayed Saleen. They are great.

My 2005 had 4 piston Brembo's on it stock. I realized this when I ordered the 281 Motorsports Baer rotor upgrade and the bracket didn't fit. Does this mean the 7 spoke wheels might have a different offset?

The 7-spoke and 5-spoke wheels both clear the 2013 GT500 6-piston brembo brakes...clears with room to spare.

Whoa!!!! Talk about confusing and it really could be guesswork as to what you might have.

Interestingly enough I have 20x9 front and rear but with different offsets. My wheels are white and I take them off to wax them from time to time, I noticed the difference and thought that it was weird. I never gave any second thought to it though.

All serialized Saleen Mustangs from 1994 through 2009 have different offset front and rear wheels when the rim width is the same at all four corners (Exception 2007 H281).

Are the 4-pot brembos fatter/wider than the 6-pot? My 2013 GT500 Brembos cleared both the 7 spoke and 5 spoke with room to spare...
