Looks like a great first day despite the weather -- those who weren't afraid to get some water on their cars were well rewarded!

For Saturday, come to the SOEC/Saleen tent between 9:00 and Noon to pick up your goody bag from Dave -- and so long as you are pre-registered by June 5 with SOEC you'll have a goody bag stuffed full of Mothers detailing products, SOEC items and Saleen goodies (Thanks, Molly!). If you are still waiting for you SOEC member packet and need a SOEC member decal, just ask Dave.

Also at the tent you can purchase the following items (please expect to pay by cash):

Saleen apparel.

The Saleen Book by Brad Bowling, $60.

SOEC Caps, $25.

The Saleen Owner's Registry, 1984-1996, $20-$30 depending on condition.

SOEC Polo Shirts, $50.

We appreciate all of those who pre-registered to help us plan for a great time for all!

.

Great to see so many fine cars...weather was not near as bad as it was closer to Philadelphia. My Goodyear all season F1 supercar tires were awesome in the rain.....Make sure you bring a change of footwear...Carlisle was pretty muddy.

Sorry to skip out on the dinner but I had only 1 day and found a Boss 302 to buy.

Would like to be there Saturday but I'm a travel soccer Dad....no goody bag for me...**** shame!

I shot a video of most of the cars that were there Saturday. I forgot to turn on image stabilization so it is shaky and a car alarm goes off about a quarter of the way through; but at least you can get an idea of the number of Saleens in attendance.

Special thanks to Jim; Betsy; Dave; and Greg for setting up what I believe is the largest Saleen event in history (vehicles) to date? Steve; Molly and Liz certainly go well out of their way to make sure everyone is taken care of for autographs and Q&A. I think Steve had at least 5 car signings between Friday and Saturday and the rain did not stop him.

Thanks for the goody bags Jim..they were awesome!!

Hopefully everyone will buy some hats and shirts to help keep the club funded...I have purchased two shirts and two hats in the last six moths personally!

Dave; it was great to finally meet you! Hope I was able to help out a little...

The unofficial count is 105 mustangs and 4 Foci, there are reports of a couple of mustangs on the show field as well as an XP and a couple 331s. We should have a final count later this week

Made the drive out from Oklahoma. Was so excited for this event. Last year was so much fun. Even though I registered with the Focus Rising crowd, I had every intention of meeting up with the SOEC crowd since I have't been to any events. 2 hours after getting my car set up and ready on the show field Saturday, I had to have someone drive me to the Emergency Room. With my car. Ended up having emergency surgery to get my gall bladder removed. Even though I was only on the show field for a short time, I still ended up winning 1st in my class (Focus - Specialty). And I won 3 club awards for Focus Rising. And thanks to some great friends, I still got my sun visor signed by Steve Saleen. Still wish I would have got to meet him. At least my car had a lot of fun this year. Had someone drive it through the awards presentation for me so I could get a pic. Wish I could have enjoyed it more, but it was still a very good weekend.

I would like to echo everyone's sentiments about the show. Betsy, Rudy, Greg, and Dave did an excellent job; and thanks Jim for the goodie bag. Steve, Liz and Molly were so great to me and all the other owners. They all signed cars, items, posed for pics and seemed genuinely interested in pleasing everyone there. Steve signed my car and others in the rain on Friday. He got pretty wet, but still made sure to take time with everyone. I attended one of his Q & A seminars on Saturday. He answered all questions with enthusiasm; and he exhibited a great sense of humor with some of his stories. He even signed posters and items for the owners after the group dinner. I met and befriended a lot of owners there. I parked next to and also ate dinner with Hilmar from Iceland and his friend. Those guys are great and true Mustang enthusiasts. Hilmar drag races his Saleens, including the 25th anniversary car. He had pictures to prove it. SOEC, The Saleens, and the many owners at Carlisle made this show special, even with the rain.

After attending literally hundreds of car events in my lifetime, the Carlisle Ford 2013 show ranks as one of the top five all time! First, Betsy and Rudy and David (and the others I didn't get to meet) all went out of their way to be accomadating. I went both Thursday and Saturday.

Where to begin? My eight year old nephew got to ask Steve Saleen the first question at the seminar...."What was the first thing you modified in your lifetime?" Steve replied he did some work to a tricycle at about age 5 or 6...making the wheels a bit better for less rolling resistance and better looking!

Molly gave me a huge bear hug by the orange 2013 S351 roadster after I presented her with a present for her to take back to California. When I asked her how she liked Pennsylvania, she replied "It's beautiful here, but a bit more humid than I like." She also signed some Saleen items for me and my nephew.

Liz and Steve were cordial as always. The line was long, like it was in 1996 when he last visted here and I met him, but I took time to talk to everyone and sign dash and car parts and.....my console lids of my four Saleen cars. He remembered my '03 extreme Speedster.....because he delivered it to the first owner (one of his accountant/business people) at the plant! "That car is painted Lizstick, isn't it," he asked me. When I told him the last S351 (99-#49) is in my hands and sits in my living room, his eyes lit up. "Very interesting," he said. And added he'd like to stop by sometime and see it. Anytime, Steve! Hope Steve and Liz enjoyed the book about Pennsylvania I presented them. Perhaps he perused it on the flight back to California!

I had the opportunity to talk to other Saleen enthusiasts that day, in line, and aroud their cars. Awesome! As my brother remarked to me...."hundreds of Mustangs here today, of all kinds and shapes and engines. But the Saleens really stand out on their own." I think must of us find that to be true!

When I left Carlisle on Saturday I had a huge sense of pride. Not only because I live in Pennsy and we hosted a great venue for the Saleen family, but because of the huge Saleen car turnout.

Thanks Steve, Molly and Liz for making it a great day!

PS: Don't wait another 17 years to come back to Carlisle!

Sincerely, Gerry, caretaker of 20 cars, including 10 Mustangs:
