Default Hood Struts for Heat Extractor Hood?

I recently bought some Redline hood struts for my 1995, however, they don't quite fit correctly on the Saleen heat extractor hood. Anyone have this experience? Are there other hood strust that will definitely work?

Thanks to all.

Lawrence.

Do you have pictures to show what you're talking about?

Pressurized gas struts to keep the hood open without using the/a prop bar.

As stated, please post images of your problem.

I have the Redline struts on my 95. I could quickly find a pic that shows where the struts mount to t he hood but i can snap one if you need it. I would upgrade to the metal ends as I had problems with the plastic version not staying connecting and turning one strut into a pretzel.

Hattrick...thanks...for the info.

It would be FANTASTIC if you could snap a shot of how they are connected to the hood so that I can mimic that. I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks,

Lawrence.

Umm, does hatrick have the same hood as you? There has to be a difference in hoods. When I used the redlines, they mounted with no issues. So a pic of your mounting area would probably be beneficial, don't you think?

Here are a couple of where the struts mount to the hood. Just to be clear, my hood is a Kaenen hood. With the exception of the two holes at the whindshield side of the Saleen hood the Kaenen hood is exactly the same. I also had to drill a hole in each side of the hood to accomodate the caster camber plates. The last pic shows both a Saleen hood (left) and my Kaenen hood (right).

Thanks again...while my hood (authentic Saleen) looks similar to yours, it is in fact, not exactly the same. For one, mine has a hollowed out section on the underside near the windshield, and where your strut are attached to the hood, I believe the corner is rounded as opposed to squared off (which is the problem). I will check again tonight and try to post a pic.

Lawrence.

I have the RedLine gas struts on my Saleen and no issues also no issues with the caster cams I am using seeing that you had to drill holes to accomodate your setup.
I believe it's the design of your hood. Mine is more hollow.
