Default 15lb boost gauge upgrade? - Install

I am slowly starting to piece together the parts I will need for my winter mods, and came across the 15lb boost gauge cluster on FoundADeal's ebay site. I can get the cluster for dirt cheap with just the gauge unit and harness. I assume I have to have a different sending unit to make the switch from the 10lb gauge to the 15lb gauge. Is that correct?

Nope, you don't need any different parts, not even the harness. Just switch out the gauge and your good to go.

JDM Engineering sell the 15 lb gauges also, it comes with the gage and wire plug in. You have to pull your radio to be able to reach up under the dash to pinch the probe that holds the pod down on the dash. Pull up on the pod as you pinch the probe it will come up and both wire clips will be there. Before you unclip the boost clip wire tape a pencil to the bottom white plastic clip, this is to keep it from falling back down into the dash, clip the new boost 15 lb to it untape pencil and put back into dash.

That little piece of information is very helpful. I am piecing together my mod list and was wondering what size belt I would need with your idler and the 3.2. I plan to start purchasing the rest of my parts next month. I have LTs and o/r H and FRPP Hot Rod cams ready to go in. I need to order the SCT x3, SuperShaker, 60lb Injectors, Pulley, Spark plugs, and your idler setup. I am undecided on the fuel pumps, but am leaning towards the GT500 setup. As soon as the weather gets to the point where I can't take the car out, I am going to start tearing it down.

The 3.20 S/C pulley is what my Saleen has and I run the Gates Micro-V green strip K061066 belt. Sound like you have the plan on your mods that is perfect, but if you do not have forged internals watch that hp/tq around 490 to 500 rwhp is about it to be safe. I just have the blue 39 lb Saleen inj. and mines fine as long as you get the fuel pump, 60 lb is better tho.

I currently have the blue 39s as well. But from everything I read, it sounded like 60s were in order. One of these days, I am sure I will forge the bottom end, so I might as well do the 60s now. I've read so many different things on a safe output. I am sure the mods I have in mind would put me over 500rwhp, but will probably keep it around 480-490 just to be on the safe side. On a side note, where did you get the belt?

Oriellys automotive. Just call your automotive parts places and ask if they have Gates belts then ask if they can get the green strip Gates belt.

Hey, I just got an Autometer C2 boost gauge. Finishing up the install tonite. if you wanna see how it looks, gimme a shout. I have a guy who can get them cheap.

When you do your plugs, give me a call. I wanna see how easy/hard they really hard before I attempt mine.

BTW, I got some goodies of my own coming! I'll see you on the WV streets!

The S281SC has a dash mount gauge pod, with boost and air temp. I currently have the stock 10lb gauge. I am just wanting to upgrade the gauge, which since I only have to have the gauge, is only 25 dollars.

What goodies are you installing next?

Just a note, Iwinuloose, Mark Lamaskin (Performance Auto Sport) in Richman Va Is great on the Saleen. He has tested the mosaleen idler pulley system on 3.40 S/C pulley and a 3.00 S/C pulley. He didnt think it would make a difference since he set up the 3.40 S/C pulley car himself.
He was supprised and became a dealer. Kevin is the shop guy to talk to on install, tuning, mods. etc.

Mine came last night. Unfortunately I missed the FedEx man, and since it requires a signature, I missed my package as well. I assume I will receive it tomorrow now.

I had to replace my Guage Pod too - the right guage "SC AIR TEMP" was broke completely and looked like there was condinsation inside. the left guage for the boost that was 15lb guage worked for a couple of months and then started to flick all the way to the right and back to the left fast and was not reading the 12lbs boost that the car was pushing when I hit the pedal. I purchased the guage pod w/ both new guages for about $159 on Ebay and got it installed at the local ford dealership for $85 in labor. Everything works perfectly now !!! Just my 2 cents !!
