Try a 1996-98 SVT Cobra cable.

I am not sure if this was ruled-out before.

Dave,
Just checked 98 cobra they are also too short. Have been searching 99-01 cobra and 03-04 Mach1 should work. Must be 40'' in length.

I would think one from an 03+ supercharged cobra would work, the throttle body placement is similar...

Default Q: Replacement Throttle Cable?

Hey guys i asked about this a while ago but I'm still searching and hitting dead ends. I have a 00 281 S/C and the throttle cable is broke and is the only thing keeping this car from being driven after a complete engine rebuild.
That being said I have tried, GT, 03-04 mach 1, old thunderbird cables that the parts number got referenced too, 1996-1998 cobra, Throttle cables none have worked. If anyone has had to deal with this before or knows what actually works that would be great. Hate that a throttle cable is holding me up from enjoying this car.
Thanks

I don't exactly remember but I feel like a long time ago people had considerable problems It very well could be that you need a saleen specific cable.

My memory is really fuzzy though so i wouldn't swear to it. search throttle cable above and see if you get a hit.

Default Throttle cable

We have a 2002 S281 SC. We were told by Saleen that they used an 03-04 cobra throttle cable modified. I'm here to tell you I just ordered the cobra throttle cable and it is too short to work. I not sure what to do. Just bought the car for my wife.

I am also in the same predicament with my 2004 Mustang Saleen S281 S/C.

Initially I was informed by Saleen that they do not offer replacement throttle cables anymore. It was mentioned that this item was a modified cobra throttle cable.

I then asked if an 03-04 SVT Cobra Throttle Cable would work and to see if they could shed some light to this modification.

When I inquired Saleen about the modification, the response was the following:
"The documentation is not specific to the modification. It just says modified. I'm sorry I don't have more information for you."

Surely someone has found an alternate solution.

Could anyone shed some light?

Apparently there is a difference in a throttle cable from the supercharged model to the non-supercharged model as well

I am fortunate to live within a few minutes from the Saleen Performance Parts Center in Round Rock, Texas and while picking up some items from an order I placed, I asked the lady that was working about this situation on replacement throttle cables.

I believe she said her name was Molly and she actually provided me a part number and mentioned I should be able to purchase this from any Ford dealership. The part number is the following:
3R33-9A758-AC

She said this is the throttle cable that was used on my 2004 Saleen Mustang. She also said this was the same part for the non-supercharged versions and the supercharged alike.

She also mentioned this is the cable used on the Mach 1 AND the 03-04 Cobras.
It’s been my understanding that the throttle cable for the Mach 1 and the Cobras was different, but she looked it up on her computer and seemed confident in her response.

If someone tries this out with this specific part before I do, please post results!

I am working on other things on my car and its further down the priority list for now, but if I do try this, I will be sure to post results.
It may be a while; however, depending on the cost of the part from Ford, I may order it for now.
