Q: Fix loose Fox Saleen shift knob?
Hello everyone,
I know this is a common issue.. looking to find out if there’s a way to fix the loose shift knob on a fox body saleen? Doesn’t tighten up. Seems like it’s stripped inside .. Thanks |

Which version of the knob do you have?
AMCO or the "other" style? Set screw? |

I am well Joe. Hope you and the family are staying safe in these interesting times.
This looks like the Amco knob. Was the knob ever tight after you purchased the convertible? Are the threads meshing well? What do the threads on the lever look like if you unscrew the knob? |

Was the shift pattern enamel medallion removed?
All of the Amco knobs I've seen, have the stitch seams facing the drivers and passenger side. Your seams appear to be facing the dash and back seat. |

Glad you are doing well.. we are all ok thank god!! Are you going to Carlisle this year? We will be there.. I see what you mean about the stitch.. I’ve never touched it, and it was much tighter but then loosened up the last few years. Guess I should remove it to see what it looks inside..

In an 89 I had, the threaded insert attached to the shifter, had become loose from the knob itself. Such that eventually the knob would come right off (leaving the threaded insert behind). Perhaps pull up and see if the knob pops off. I wound up selling the car, but I was going to try some epoxy to reattach it.
