Upgrade supercharger coolant tank?
Wanting a larger tank (and tired of the mess from the Saleen OEM unit) and not wanting to delete my trunk with a battery box I searched around and found this.
http://store.jpcracing.com/JPC-Racin...ir_p_1708.html Has anyone tried this JPC unit? If so, do you have the Chicane strut tower brace installed with it? |

The factory saleen intercooler reservoir and the JPC are placed in one of the hottest areas of the engine bay. Saleen placed the reservoir tank there because of the new series SC intake tube taking that space up. Unfortunately, this placed the tank right above the headers/heads. thus adding heat to the intercooler fluid. The pre 05 SC saleens and the 05 plus supercharged shelbys have the intercooler tanks by the radiator away from the engine heat.
I placed a canton tank in the battery box and of course moved the battery to the trunk. There have not been any voltage losses nor any grounding issues. They way this was wired into the factory battery cables makes it easily reversible. The only space I lost in the trunk was the passenger side rear corner. Keep in mind your spare tire is useless other than rear end weight. I can still remove it without removing the battery box. |

I am fortunate enough to have capitalized on the late Great Joe Chicane's battery relocation to spare tire well. Two 6v's in lieu of the 12v in a custom bracket sandwich looks priceless. Not sure if his technology will live on? Best solution around since the spare is useless with 20's. Don't have a pic handy, I'll look.

You were fortunate. That is the answer I am looking for. I tossed my spare tire a couple of weeks after I bought the car and put in a tire compressor/flat repair kit, a few tools and a spare belt and tensioner arm. So I still need access to the spare tire well. I also have the Saleen subwoofer and I don't need anymore weight on the driver side. I see Optima still makes the 6V batteries. Does the Chicane unit use a controller or is just your basic positive to negative setup to achieve 12V?

don't know much about batteries but it looks like they're just piggy backed together and utilizes a ground. Sadly they just had an estate sale of his shop items, I should have picked up another set-up. Not sure if they can be found again? The craftsmanship was second to none! RIP Joe

Thats one of my favorite parts Joe designed. It uses 2 flat 6V Optimas and is flat and out of the way. I saw all the components to build these kits at Joe's estate sale. I don't think anybody knew what they were. I should have bought them but what am I going to do build them and Sell them? I don't think so.

I have intrigued a vendor in making a battery relocation kit like the Chicane unit. Does anyone know what the center knob is? I assume it is a screw down that is attached to the spare tire hold down.
