Default 1994-98 Saleen Pics

Hey all, I'm new here but have always been a Mustang nut. I love the Saleen more than anything.

Does anyone have any good pics of the earlier Saleens? I really like the Speedsters' in particular (I'm not picky) and the anniversary models (SA-15).

I have had experience with a few in my days. A buddy of mine in high school had 96-214 S281 Speedster. Then, he purchased 98-008 SA-15 anniversary edition.

Thanks and glad to be here.

Welcome to the site! I have the 96-0379 Speedster... I've always been in love with this Saleen body style. I picked her up a month and a half ago.

She is a work in progress and will make her debut by the Knotts show.

Beautiful my friend. I absolutely love the 94-98' body style over any of the other years. There are 2 S281 Extremes for sale not to far from me. Their nice cars, I'm just not a fan of the newer body styles.

I think I want to search for an R-Code S351 Speedster for mine. If not, then a Cobra.

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

Your welcome and glad to have you aboard. I've seen many S351 on ebay and craigslist. Right now is the perfect time to snatch one of those beasts. Save a little, offer someone cash and they wont say NO. Good luck with the search and I hope you find the right one.

This is bad picture of mine. But it is a 95 S351 NA and i was amazed at how much the value has dropped. Good time to buy...

The neat thing with the S351 cars, it's a great stand alone car that also offers "specialty features" seen with the earlier SSC, SC, FOX cars etc etc.

Also, the first regular production drivetrain transplant car. A top-to-bottom complete Saleen touched vehicle.

As a side note about fuel mileage... I'll have to check with the folks, but with 3.08:1 gears the black '95 was getting crazy mileage on the road trip to Atco, NJ. No gulping, just sipping.

Someone in my age bracket can remember that these seemed to be from another planet when they were new. They were like seeing a F355 Ferrari.

Consider the current asking prices for 1995 and 2000 Cobra Rs... the S351s look like fun. With A/C and a radio to boot.

These were the first two S351s I saw in person... I was in high school. I still have the dealer correspondence and sales material from an inquiry made when they were delivered.

Is this the red '96 351 from 5.0 Mustang Magazine from years and years ago. The car that was converted to an auto trans with an over-the-top motor?

Same one. It no longer has that running gear in it. The tremec and a milder motor made there way back into the engine bay.

Where did you find that one? I like it. Rare front valance and I have never seen that wing on anything but the factory race cars. Custom? I almost missed the two different rim styles with the all white.

The front bumper cover is an SR peice that was cut and sectioned for a street car. The rear wing is a competition item.

There was once a feature article on this S281.

The front bumper cover, rear wing and 10" mag rear wheels were provided to the first owner as a way of making nice for customer service issues. This car was serialized with the wrong number and Saleen accidentally sold the original rear wheels, as the story goes.

Car was eventually left the original owner, bounced around... and I believe it was wrecked not long ago. If the wing and bumper cover were not damaged in the accident, someone took them from the car.

My memory may have issues.

I don't think it was repaired. I believe those wrecked pics was when it was at an auction in a wrecking yard. Most of those photos I found through other forums.

No. 98-0029S was the only 1998 S351 in silver.

Saleen produced two silver S351 in 1995. One was an R-code the other was not.

There were also two Opal Frost 1994 S351s. Opal Frost was a form of Grey/Silver with little to no metallic.

If my memory is correct, Ford switch from Opal Frost to Silver Metallic "during" the 1995 production year. If my memory is correct.

96-0194 S281 was assembled by Saleen as a radio station promotional and prize vehicle.

Featuring race paint, carbon hood, race wing, yellow wheels and Saleen/Recaro cloth seating.

It was wrecked and sold at a salvage auction.
