Default Q: 1987 Saleen Stern Wheel Spacers + Tire Size Recommendation

I just acquired a set of 17" Stern Reverse Face II wheels for 87-116: 17 x8 + 47 and 17 x9 +44.

Anyone know what's the best wheel spacers for my car? They seem to vary a lot by price/quality.

Seems that for Rears: no spacer since I would need a negative 5mm change.

For front? 25mm bolt on spacer? 20mm? (doesn't seem like they make a 23mm one). [My front passenger side 17" Saleen Speedline currently hits the front lower control arm when it's cranked all the way to one side].

What size tires would be recommended? Front: 225/45/17? 235/40/17? Rear: 255/40/17? or? [I run the stock Saleen Koni quads]

So I finally purchased new tires for the Sterns and should be delivered this week. BFG 225/45/17 and 255/40/17.

I've trying to decide for the front between:

Eibach 20mm: https://www.americanmuscle.com/eibac...20mm-0514.html (won't clear large front snout hub)

Eibach 25mm: https://www.americanmuscle.com/eibach-spacers-25mm.html (won't clear large front snout hub) [25mm seems to have worked just right]

Any preferences? there are no 23mm wheel adaptor/spacers and this (or the HRE kit: https://lmr.com/item/HR-5065705/H-R-...-79-14-5065705) precludes the need for ARP studs and drilling.
(won't clear large front snout hub)

Any thoughts would be appreciated. (I know the old adage- get the right offsets, but that ship has sailed)

Update: Don't use HRE Trak + from LMR: don't clear. Don't use the 2015+ has different bolt threads and will not clear the front bearing hub. Research and be sure will clear large front snout hub Lincoln Mark VII. TBD since I haven't confirmed a fit just yet.

I'd try fitting them before purchasing anything.

Strange the rear driverside wheel is not flush with the wheel well lip, but it's close on the passengerside. Anyone else notice that with their 87 Saleen?

Going to put the 5mm wheel spacer on the rear driverside only. Will test fit the 25mm HRE vs 20mm billet AM kit.

Update: Don't use HRE Trak + from LMR: don't clear. Don't use the 2015+ has different bolt threads and will not clear the front bearing hub. Research and be sure will clear large front snout hub Lincoln Mark VII. TBD since I haven't confirmed a fit just yet.

Default 25mm Hubcentric Spacer Won't Clear Front Hub

Anyone know of a 25 mm hub centric wheel spacer for front 87 Saleen. All the ones for 94-14 that say should fit- do not (HRE Trak plus, American muscle generic billet ones). I was directed to Maximum Motorsports, but in the descriptions- it states specifically does not fit SVO/Lincoln fronts.

The center hub won't allow the spacer to sit flush against the rotor face/hub. [I have stock Brembo Lincoln/SVO replacement- not sure that could be the reason?]

I found some generic T6 ones on Ebay for Lincoln Mark VII and it seems that the hub opening is just a tad bigger, but since I wanted to see if there were any known options. (https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pcs-Wheel...97.m4902.l9144) (70.3mm)

(https://www.ebay.com/itm/172801148859) (70.5mm)

Mahalo in advance.

The bore inside diameter is always an issue with the Lincoln rotors. Your best bet may be to bring a rotor and the Lincoln rotor and have them machine it to fit.

When I said that a few months back, I was suggesting to fit the wheels and see what you need for spacers.
I was under the impression you were asking about spacer size.

As for the rear sides being different, that has nothing to do with saleen.
Foxbody mustangs weren't exactly precision built.
Quite a bit tolerance differences.
I'd say no two are 100% identical.
Then you have wear and tear, rubber bushing, torque boxes.
All these things could cause the rear to sit off to one side.
Only way to solve it is to use really good lower control arms (like from Maximum motorsports) and a panhard bar.
These rears can move under load as far as something like 2 inches each way.

Finally found one that worked and clears the Mark VII/SVO large snout hub without modifications. The key is that the center bore not have an inner lip. If the center hub is smooth like this one, if will clear. https://www.amazon.com/UberTechnic-H.../dp/B00KTPE9S0

I realize this is an older thread but I'm curious how it all worked out. I'm want to get a set of Stern II wheels for my 88.

If you cannot find / locate the correct 300ZX 17x8 +24 / 17x9 +39 wheels, the next best and more common RX7 and Supra 17x8 +39 / 17x9 +39 wheels will work.

These require a 10/15 mm spacer for the front.

The GTR 17x9 +24 front / 17x9 +24 rear will have the wheels sticking out in the back... and a 9" wheel might be too wide for the front.

I have been successfully running these 17 x8 + 47 and 17 x9 +44 Stern Reverse Face II wheels with 25mm spacer that I linked in the front and a single 5mm spacer on the rear passenger side.
