Default 2010 281 Production

The 2010 281 Supercharged was the second product offering by MJ Acquisitions under their Saleen Performance Vehicles banner. Debuting in late October 2009 at the SEMA show held in Las Vegas, this 281 introduced a clean slate exterior design married to a familiar Saleen Series VI supercharger.

Regular production 281 models were released during the spring and summer of 2010 during a time when Ford motor Company was readying the release of a mechanically updated 2011 Mustang.

With regular production 2010 281 Mustangs at market, the many disputes, counter-suits and legal wrangling over "Saleen" were at full swing. Historically, the 2010 281 Supercharged was an unauthorized, Saleen-inspired product without design, manufacturing or marketing input from Steve Saleen.

Below are believed to be the ten* 281 Supercharged models shown, driven and produced under the eye on MJA/SPV**.

The colors are switched between number 11 and 12. Number 11 is blue, my good friend ownes it. It is a super nice car that I'd be proud to own.

I met John at Carlisle in 2012 when he still owned the 2010 car, nice guy, spent a lot of time chatting with him...

Dave, any chance we will be getting this same kind of info for the 2011 SPV cars? I'd also be curious about the 2010/2011 SMS cars by color unless that has already been posted and I missed it.

When I was speaking to James, 435S owner (user: saleen435s), he related that Dave Rivard @ Spara assisted in finishing his car. It appears 10-0013 435S was liquidated to a used car lot incomplete. Dave gave James insight to how many 435S cars were produced and history of his #13. This took place after Revstone stopped producing cars and after Corona restarted Saleen vehicle production. 2012.

Dave may have insight towards the 2011 SPV production counts as well as specifications for each vehicle. Or not.

I believe it was reported SPV produced three vehicles on the 2012 model year Mustang. One 2012 appears to have been for export, while the other two we have not seen or heard of. 2011 would appear to be their most voluminous production year. This would also be the most laborious of the three to backtrack and build a reference (if need be).

I would not be surprised if there were 30-40 SPV Mustangs for model year 2011.

Saleen Corona may have produced three Grabber Blue Mustangs from 2010-12. One 2010 460 Supercharged coupe, one 2011 S302 Black Label coupe, and one 2011 S302 White Label coupe.

We expect Saleen Auto to audit their vehicle production records and announce production counts for 2009-2014 models in the future.

Thanks for the info Dave... I've seen pictures of 2 grabber blue SMS cars, didn't know about the third. Looks like mine is still the only drop-top, albeit a 'blue headed step child' :)

Dave does anyone know what actually happened to the SEMA Car in Octane Red. It was toured around for a while. The SEMA car had when it toured fiberglass front and rear fascias. When asked what was going to happen to the car the worker from SPV said it was going to have the fascias replaced because the urethene ones were much lighter and more durable and it would be sold off. Tried multiple times to find out what happened to this car but to no avail. This car was one of the hottest looking mustangs that had come out in years.

Palmetto Ford inventoried S281 S/C 10-0001. I do not know the purchaser.

Saleen collector Gerry mentioned during the 2013 Saleen Carlisle Event that Jess mentioned to him the 10-0001 S281 might not be something Gerry would want to own.

Gerry could elaborate, I believe the car stayed in pre-production trim and was originally assembled at an fevered pace.

Though, Gerry says he had regular phone conversions with Jess and took note regarding SPV automobile production.
