Default Q: Saleen tune and airbox? - Improvements

So i recently purchased a 2014 s302, 14-051, with only 10,000 miles! I am loving this car but do have a couple questions about it.

First off, the tune. Is the stock saleen tune good? I feel like it might do better with a more aggressive tune, and would like your input.

Pretty much the same question about the saleen cold air intake. Would i be better off with a more open cai like the k&n?

Side note, the tires... i read on american muscle, no mustang was designed to take over 9" wide in the front, whereas mine are 275/35/r20 on the front and 275/40/r20 on the back. Which equates to about 10.8" wide front and back. Are these the stock tires and rims that came with my car? I found an entire list of stock sizes for all years makes and models and dont see any that came with 20 front and back stock.

Any input is appreciated, so stoked to be an owner of such a sexy car!

Hi! Welcome to the Saleen Forums @ SOEC.org.

Do you own an S302 White Label, S302 Yellow Label or S302 Black Label?

The "Saleen tune" for these vehicles is a "Premium Fuel" calibration that also considers the free-flow mufflers and washable air filter element installed on these White Label models. The tune is warranty safe.

FYI: This era of Saleen Mustang can have a variety of rear gear ratios. Sometimes the chassis can have 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 gears as a factory Ford option... other times 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 gears as a Saleen installed option... or standard gears if so ordered.

I mention the final drive gear ratio because if you have a 3.15:1 car; a gear swap will improve performance feeling.

The 2011-14 S302 White Label is a lightly modified vehicle from Saleen. Any of the popular upgrades to 2011-14 Mustang GTs can apply to your S302. Saleen produces vehicles that can be warrantied and offers a range of "signature vehicles" at attractive price points.

For 2013-14 the chrome "Saleen" 20x9" wheels were standard on the White Label and Yellow Label models. These wheels wore tire sizes 275/35-20 (front) and 275/40-20 rear. Tires can be supplied by either Pirelli (P-Zero) or Cooper (RS-3) depending on supply and build date of vehicle.

The wheels were made by "Boss" and the model was "328." Saleen used a spacer behind these wheels to push them outwards in the wheel wells.

Youre the man, dave. Thanks a ton for the info. Glad to hear i can get even more out of this car with a few simple mods and a tune. I dont suppose you would know the value of my stock rims, if i were to sell and go for 10s on the back? Do you have a recommended size rim/tire that wouldnt diminish performance? I wouldnt mind going a little smaller on the rim with some meatier tires.

I do not know much about wheels and/or tires. We have many posts on the forum (2005-09 era data will also be relivant to you) with regards to the various tires people have placed on S197 Mustangs.

If you want to keep a "Saleen look," Saleen Performance Parts offers two wheel designs for your 2014.

One: The 20x9" (Front) and 20x10" (Rear) "Secca" wheel. This wheel came to market around 2015; this is a Saleen designed wheel. It features thinner spokes than the Boss 328 wheel and has a flatter outer lip.

Two: The 19x9" (Front) and 19x10" (Rear) "Heritage Minilite" wheel. This wheel came to market in 2014; this is a Saleen designed wheel. It was OE on the Saleen/George Follmer Edition and very similar to the 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones wheel. This wheel is a current option on 2015-19 S302 White Labels and Yellow Labels.

Each wheel design "may" come in various colors/finishes.

*Silver painted
*Chrome
*Black Chrome

The 19" wheel may also come in a grey painted and black or gunmetal painted.
