Default Q: Exhaust Resonance?

Has anyone else had a severe Exhaust resonance problem like I have on PJ #220 ?
It's enough to drive you out of the car at 1800 RPM at any speed, but especially when under a load such as in 4th or 5th gear and starting up an incline. I have to keep the rpm up above that by downshifting all the time. It gets very irritating and my wife won't even get in the car anymore, can't blame her, it keeps me from driving it on long trips I'd like to take in it.

Any ideas ?

Is this a new issue or was the car always like this? Any modifications?

Mine resonates under load in your listed range.

Default PJ Exhaust Resonance

No mods, completely stock. Nothing has ever been touched or changed from original on the entire car. Just over 8,000 miles now but it has made this noise since day One.

Default Exhaust Resonance

I took it to my local Saleen dealer Fette Ford in NJ about 40 miles away for all my services and they couldn't find any TSBs or fixes for it neither could my local Ford dealer. I was going to add some vibration isolaters I saw on a V-6 Mustang one time but couldn't find the part numbers to get them.

I also have the lifter noise I see many people talk about on the PJ forums. Fette Ford said the techs at Saleen told them it was "normal". My Ford dealer also looked at my lifter noise issue and They had it all apart and suggested I change all the lifters and related parts but that would be an expensive "Maybe" fix. Either way Saleen got themselves off the hook after a year (Warranty) saying it was "Normal" and Ford said it wasn't covered. I'm just going to drive til I sell it or the wheels fall off. Still fun to drive. Probably wouldn't buy another Saleen after all this though, sorry to say.

I don't want to be Mr Negativity here and I'm sorry if that's how it sounds, but I have also been waiting 2 1/2 years for a rear seat back cover to replace the one that was scratched when a tree branch fell during a storm and broke the back window out of the PJ. Now I understand it was ordered before Saleen took the company back and it fell off their to do list, but I spoke directly with Molly a year later and she said she would get right on it for me and it now has been well over a year again and no seat cover. My insurance company would like to close my claim for this $1000 seat cover. I've pretty much given up on getting much out of the Saleen Company on any issue.

Call again. Keep dialing until you speak with someone.

Posting on a web forum will not produce a backseat. I know of no "spares" from the original production run.

PJ#25 sounds the same at the same RPM.. kinda annoying.. but kinda cool too. Give your wife some ear plugs, or turn up the radio.

Its normal!
