PJ stock alternator
Does anybody know what the stock alternator is in the PJ and Heritage model? Is it the ford 130amp alt or the 135amp alt? It is hard to track down what was the stock one was. Thanks.

PJ Alternator
I am not sure whether it is 130 amps or 135 amps. But what I am sure of is that many of the stock 2007 era Mustangs included early alternator failures. My PJ's alternator died at just 8,000 miles.
Other PJ owner's have bought alternators other than stock Ford and selected chrome or black housings for appearance. So why buy the same thing if it failed early? |

Upgrade to the 2010 denso unit, fits right in and has 150amps.

I would like to know what part number that is as well. That sounds a lot better than th PA performance one i had in there.

The reason the alternator fails is the unit is mounted backwards. The internal cooling fan spins backwards which doesn't really pull much air into the part to cool it enough. Some alts are stronger then others and last much longer, some fail quick. We use Tuff Stuff alts and have had good luck so far, but there is no real guarantee.

Motorcraft alternators are just crap in general. PA and etc of the same replacements aren't any better. Here is the link to the 2010 denso unit:
http://www.tascaparts.com/auto-parts...lternator-scat It shows that auto and manual transmission to have different part #s but I have no idea why. Should be physically the same. If any the auto tranny might have more amperage. |

Those part numbers represent factory Motorcraft alternators. Did they change manufacturers on the 2010 production model?

Yes denso made the unit. I don't hard proof data but there were a few discussions on another forum.
Also if you physically look at the 2010 alternator then go on on denso's website, they have the exact same housing design. |

Thanks! We will note that as a viable solution. We like the Tuff Stuff version, especially since we can get them in matte black!

Here is a picture of my alternator. I believe it is an OEM except that it is powder coated black. I have not had any alternator issues.
