Smile New Owner: PJ #501

Hello Forum Members,

I just wanted to announce to the group that I have just purchased PJ #501 from its second owner. It's in beautiful condition having now 1,400 miles after I drove it home yesterday and put about 50 miles on it.

As I explained in a previous message, I became aware of the Saleen PJ Mustang in August when I saw (and drove) one at my local Ford dealer who had bought it outright from the owner. I really liked the features, performance, sound, etc., but wasn't impressed with this car as it had some cosmetic issues, some custom touches and more miles than I wanted. Additionally, I thought that the dealer had it priced to high.

Fast forward to September when I registered with this forum to see what I could learn about these cars. The forum has been very helpful in this regard and, indeed, provided leads to two PJ's available for sale in Ohio, not far from home. Three weeks ago I met with owner number two of the 501 and we negotiated a reasonable price for this beautifully preserved car. It's all original except for a couple of oil changes and has the Watts Link repair kit and driver's side air bag recall completed. The passenger side air bag recall has yet to be completed.

In addition to the car, a number of other pieces of build documentation and other extras transferred to me as well. About 15 Saleen employees signed underneath the hood of the car, as well as the original owner who, at the time, was the VP of Sales at Saleen.

I look to an on-going relationship with the forum in an effort to learn all I can about these cars. I plan to keep it original and maintain it in its current great condition. I probably will drive it about a 1,000 miles per year to local shows, cruising , etc. My twelve year old grandson (a budding car enthusiast) rode home with me yesterday and he's so excited about it that he can hardly sleep at night.

Thanks again for your help and thanks in advance for the help the forum can provide in answering my questions.

Good evening,
Richard

Yep, Greg, you are responsible for providing me the lead to the #501 PJ. I'll always be indebted to you for that information as, otherwise, I wouldn't have known about the car or the fact that it likely going to be up for sale.

Thanks much,
Richard

Hi Richard
Welcome to the exclusive Parnelli Club
You have made an excellent choice as I believe they are undoubtedly one of the best Mustangs made.
We currently have 2 #45 and #46 which we have owned for over 10 years. Both are Super Shakers. I just love driving my wifes #45 which has n now got 57,000 km's on it. The only issue we have had it broke the Watts link centre bolt.

Use your car and enjoy
Tony
