Q: Saleen Pricing? - 2010 S281 S/C

Does this car seem to be fairly priced? None of the book values gave me a range just an original msrp. I can't find any others for sale to compare.

Hmm. I just searched for it again and it came up. Must be something wrong with the link.

Lets try again.

Nope it's not working. I can find it all day if I search for it. I copied and pasted the link in the address bar and it worked.

you are seeing a page stored in your browser's history. What was the price and maybe someone can let you know if it is fair.

Yes that is the vehicle I'm talking about. Would you have any info on it?

This vehicle (10-0007) was an early S-series production model for MJA. Car was used for media photos and promotions. Generally considered the Jess Albright demo, a former employee that was active in the Speedlab parts department.

Car has a few custom touches.

Do you think the car is priced right?

There is a chance this car has been on the market for over a year. It it not a "screaming deal," or it would have sold.

Would offering low 30's to high 20's be an unreasonable offer?

I would offer $27,000.00-$28,000.00.

Side note: Saleen Automotive in Corona CA does not have production records for Michigan assembled vehicle from 2010-2012. At present time, they cannot authenticate this vehicle.

So is there anyway to see if it is a real SPV S281?

Dave you beat me to it! I was just about to say this was the promo vehicle Jess used. Here are a few pics from back in the day.

So is it a 2010 version of the 09 S281 S/C cars? Are there any differences besides the body, S/C Lid, and brakes?

My friend has his for sale (white/white) and 1 of 1. I am not sure what his reserve is set to but starting bid is listed at $35K. I can ask if you like.

From what I can tell, the one listed appears to be completely authentic. Dave previously posted a link to the ad last summer that includes photos and Ford OEM window sticker. I have a former SPV contact that I could confirm with if you are interested.

As Dave mentioned in a previous post, the below photo was before the rear wing was added. I thought this design (minus the wing) was perfect especially in satin silver metallic with the matching wheels.

The club can authenticate a 2010 model.

The Series 6.5 lid was not a 2010 production feature. It is a retrofit item post-build.

Most 2010-2011 Michigan cars use the same basic StopTech calipers from 2005-09.

Theoretically, it is an evolution of the 05-09 Saleen designs by Phil Frank. However, this was designed under Saleen Performance Vehicles (basically Steve Saleen and Phil Frank were not involved in these operations at all). SPV was lead by Mike Shields and the design director for these models was David Byron.

Steve Saleen & Phil Frank (the original Saleen designer) designed the model you see below known as the SMS 460 for model year 2010. Today this is known as the Saleen 302 Black Label. (History above is the cliff-notes version).

So the brakes that are pictured with the car now are a retrofit item as well? They look like bear brakes. Are there any pictures of the window sticker on this car?

This is the"Real Deal" 2012 Saleen Mustang from the Revstone team which looks far better than the SMS version. #03 out of only 5 (I think) in 2012, original owner, all paperwork/correspondence throughout the build process. Ordered with the Saleen adjustable suspension, carbon fiber wing and chin splitter, strut brace and quarter window covers as well as the white wheels. This car has been babied since new and always garaged - only been in the rain once (not by choice)... Purchased new from Bailey Auto Plaza in Graham, TX. which is an authorized Saleen dealer. This car still has factory Ford and Saleen warranty coverage - From what I am being told Saleen, will not recognize the 2010 - 2012 Michigan cars at this point due to the fact that they have no "build" records. However, make no mistake the car is still a documented Saleen with all build records, VIN information (plates both inside and under the hood), window sticker, Saleen manual, Racecraft suspension, etc, etc, etc.... Best of all - the design both inside and out blows away the SMS/Saleen style - in fact, this is the car they should be producing moving forward.

This car turns heads everywhere and runs PERFECT - engine and drivetrain are stock with the exception of a cold air intake, Barton short shifter and Saleen axel back exhaust (never been tuned with a handheld tuner).. Turn-key and really nothing else needs to be done except enjoy it.

Has the Brembo brakes- slotted and cross drilled Bear two piece rotors both front and rear (rear has the large rotors installed to match the front). Car was ordered with factory navigation, seat heaters, alarm, HID's,etc....Also has a remote radar detector (Escort 8500ci) installed and hidden from view.

I have added carbon fiber side splitters and headliner (Trufiber), carbon fiber custom grant steering wheel - many many little extras but nothing has been done to take away from the vehicle. Very nice after market stereo has been integrated into the factory system, can sell with or without the stereo system and can be returned 100% back to stock very easily. JL Audio HD 900/5, Audio Control DQL8, (2) JL Audio 10W6 subs and Morell 3 way front door speakers all professionally installed. Cannot tell there is anything additional installed until you listen to it.

Please email with questions and not in a hurry to sell. Time for the new BMW M3 sedan to better suit family needs.

Email with any questions,

If both vehicles are a firm $35,000.00... the 2012 model is a better buy than the 2010.

Factory Saleen options for 10-0007 were:

- Strut brace
- N2+ Adjustable suspension
- Chrome wheels
- 14" front brakes (this may have been a standard feature for the 2010 model)

Car probably had an MSRP around $60,000.00

Yes, car was modified while being a demo with non-factory equipment.

Yes the 12 would be better. However I believe it is not reached the reserve price. Does SPV modify these vehicles while they are demo status or were these mods done by the current owner?

I cannot say if they vehicle ever had a window sticker displayed on a window. There may not be a photo. The car may have a window sticker as part of the documentation, but I would not be surprised if a sticker was not generated given the demo status.

User Jess Albright should be able to answer most any question you have regarding this vehicle. Your best resource for 10-0007 data.

Yes thank you I PMed Jess Albright but they haven't been on here since Nov.2013. Thank you again Dave and everyone else who had helpful input.

I'll have to dig around on my home computer but I probably have a couple of pictures of the back of this car with the carbon fiber wing on it when Jess brought it to PAS in July of 2011. I told him he had to put the same wing on 11-025 or we wouldn't buy it. I just talked to him at Charlotte last weekend but I don't have his contact info... Maybe try calling RTR? He was working their display.

EDIT: Found 2 on my phone...

I know for a fact a 2010 kona blue #12 sold less than a year ago for $45,000. I find the silver car much more interesting becasue of its history. I think its a steal at $28 to 32k. It also has 60 more hp than 2012...not to mention that only 10 S281s were made in 2010...

WOW only 10! Why such a low number?

however....I'd also be proud to own the white car too....put a new saleen blower on it and make over 600 hp. Sweet.

When production began in spring 2010, Ford Motor Company was about to switch over to 2011 model year Mustang introducing the new 5-Liter. The window was very brief for 2010 conversions.
