Q: Quarter window louvers cracked?

Both of my quarter window Louvers have cracked, I found both of them at the same time. Has anyone had this experience?

Yes. This trim can crack and they can fall off the car.

Mine are both cracked but not loose so Im not touching them.............yet.

wiggywigton 12-23-2014 09:16 AM

Yup. Common problem. The adhesive Saleen used is unflexible and if the car was outside and it got cold fast causing the cracks.
i thought i bought a pair a few years ago but ended up getting 2 drivers side.
i have been unsucessful in finding just a passengerside but if anyone wants my extra driver side i will send it to you.

Very common, and in some cases it will crack at the same spot but on the top side too. My passenger is cracked on the top and bottom.

Exactly the problem. We can get you a replacement set if anyone wants them.

Werecow 01-11-2015 11:37 AM

Doesn't Saleen still have these... and there are carbon Fiber ones for sale in the forums here too...

crackerjack 01-14-2015 07:26 AM

I am on my 2nd pair and both cracked again. I my consider a CF pair but not a Saleen part.

Saleen520 01-14-2015 08:10 PM

I am definitely going a different route. Probably the PJ cover.

We can offer you the Carbon Fiber version. We havent had any issues with them cracking thus far.

kenefise97 02-08-2015 10:10 AM

Mine have done the same thing on both sides as well.

dwickwick 02-14-2015 04:00 PM

cracks

just found 2 more cracks in the louvers. has anyone just removed them and left them off. seen pics of 2008 with them off, did saleen build them that way? like the looks of the louvers but if they are going to crack again, not going to waste the time and money on them. does 281 motorsports still make them in CF, if they do anyone have some feedback on them?

Barricade 02-14-2015 04:02 PM

Louvers or the window deletes? Big diff.... The louvers from silverhorse are thick..i cant see them breaking.

We dont make them, and we havent used them yet. If you want to be the tester, we will sell a set to you at employee cost of you give us all feedback.

Mine are both cracked top and bottom. Are they just glued on? No taking out the window to replace?

wiggywigton 05-24-2015 09:20 PM

Just glued on...pain in the butterfly to get off...

Use extreme caution when removing as the urethane used to install them was "gobbed" in there and can take your paint when you lift. We have a razor technique I can explain to you if you want to call me.

Boosted 05 05-29-2015 02:09 AM

Mine were cracked as well so I removed them with the intention of leaving them off. Once I finally got them off, painstaking as it was, I soon realized that I would either have to replace them, or repaint around the quarter windows. The louvers had rubbed and scratched the paint around the entire window and took paint from the inside edge of the quarter window with it when I removed them. I bought a pair on Ebay for $150 to reinstall.

Mine have been cracked since I purchased the car. Doesn't bother me enough yet to do anything about (it is a 2 feeter in terms of visual).
