Q: 2010 SMS 570 Challenger production?

Hello all, I am the proud owner of a 2010 SMS 570 challenger #36. Its a very beautiful car and I am hoping someone here has more knowledge about this car than I. Does anyone here know how many of these cars were made for 2010?

Dave 03-22-2014 01:03 PM

Hi and welcome to The Saleen Forums @ SOEC.org!

Our rough estimate is twenty-seven 2010 570 models. This includes both the 570 and 570X.

Please contact Saleen Automotive in Corona CA for more details.

thank you sir for such a prompt reply. I tried saleen but they would not give me a proper answer they only told me it is 1 of 2 made. But how can there be 27 made if I have number 36?

Dave 03-22-2014 01:48 PM

Saleen skips serial numbers. The the numbers are more of an identity for the car. The number does not represent build order or totals.

For example. If there was a 2010 570 number "089." It could be the first one built with a total model year production of a hypothetical eighteen cars.

So on the surface, our hypothetical "89" not only hides it was the first one produced, but also the production total for the model year.

2010 570 Challenger

10-036 and 10-040 are Tor Red. The options may not be identical between the two cars.

Were you sent from heaven Dave? But seriously, are you affiliated with Saleen in anyway to get these numbers? Your doing me a great service with this info sir. Its just a little hard for me to think that its so few of these cars built? I've heard 100, 110, 200 and i've seen number 500 for sale. Is there somewhere to verify your estimate or are you in a position to have that information? AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!

For 2010 there "may" have been "at least" nineteen 570 Challengers and and eight 570X Challengers.

I expect these numbers to be lower than the final Saleen tally for the 2010 Challenger production year.

I would not expect there to be 100 Challengers for the 2010 model year. The final total will be under 100 units.

People can request a serial number, when ordering. I have seen the number 500 model as well. Expect this to be a customer / dealer order request or Saleen built the "500" serial car to simply have it running around.

My words have no value and treat them as such.

Trust me Dave, what you're saying makes tons of sense. Through my research i've not found any triple digit serial number car except for that odd "500" car. I saw an interview with Sean Saleen and he stated the plan was 500 a year but i cant find even close to a hundred of then. So either they did not build them or they are hidden really well.

Dave 03-24-2014 06:40 PM

I believe you are correct with your memory of an announced production run of no more than 500 per year.

To date, I believe Saleen produced less than 100 Challengers total.

The early 2009 models were powered by naturally aspirated 6.7 Liter stroker motors. These 570s were not supercharged. The 2009 570X models were supercharged.

For 2010 both the 570 and 570X were supercharged.

Sometimes i wonder if id rather the stroker or the supercharger, the 6.7 sounds interesting. Dave do you have a SMS 570 challenger as well?

Dave 03-29-2014 12:43 PM

The stroker engine cars were no less expensive and should be fairly uncommon given they were only offered in 2009.

No, I am not a 570 owner. I would own one though.
