I believe 97-032 is the S351 speedster. I would really love to find it or the S351 coupe and own either.

tennesseemustangperformance 08-07-2013 11:23 AM

Oh nice! I have been looking for one for a long time. BTW, I have a lot of pics of the flamed car beside it from a car show I went to in Pensacola.

Thanks for posting the pic... MB is an amazing color!

I could be mistaken, but I wonder if the chevron overhangs live under the door filler. Part of me vaguely remembers a SN-95 Saleen exterior styling conversion from the mid-1990s that was photographed at Saleen and the installer left of the overhangs at the bottom of the door before the filler panel was installed.

No reason why I mention this, just I see the trim/cut line on the upper door.

Looks like a nice, correct, placement of decals.

psi365 08-10-2013 02:48 AM

I would love to know where that S351 speedster is.

I heard rumors of a possible Bright Atlantic blue S351, but was never able to find anything concrete about it. That would be my ultimate dream Saleen.

psi365 08-10-2013 02:52 AM

I know this is the wrong section, but it does have to do with the subject matter.

97-034 S281 in moonlight blue is currently on ebay!

You can see on the eBay link that the door fillers are not installed and the chevrons are installed so that the filler would cover up the excess.

That S351 has awesome interior and would be cool to own, I'm a coupe guy but I guess I wouldn't mind this.

Not at all, if a few people appreciated these cars and wanted to own one, there is a first shot at it.

This car was for sale without a motor earlier this year. Local guy bought it painted the wheels white and got it up and running.

With 285's on the front and 295's on the rear I'm surprised he was able to run that on 8.5's. Some areas need to be addressed, but only a few of these have been up for sale.

it was a before and after, seller bought it for 4k, came with a vortech, he apparently sold it to someone close to him, and they may have sold it as well? who knows. only pics ever posted of it.

Good to hear that it has been repaired. That first pic broke my heart.

hennie 08-18-2013 05:10 AM

97-17B resides here in Holland.
I Imported the car approx 5-6 years ago for a customer, it has been abused over time, and really needs a lot of attention. I don't have any pics, currently it's a dealers lot because he traded it in on some smaller cars.
it has the vortec supercharger, stock seat were replaced by fabric grey flofits, the stock speedlines replaced by some chrome saleen replicas, and if I am correct it crrently has blown engine... to bad, I think I will have to go after it and save it and get it back to it's original glory.

Sad how some people can't appreciate a car. Great to hear from you Hennie. Say isn't your XP8 Moonlight Blue as well?

hennie 08-21-2013 06:03 PM

Hi Rick!

yes it's sad when you see some cars...
The xp8 is blue, but it's deep wedgewood blue, it's a darkblue which is almost purple, it had a lot of red paint in it.

Agree. 96-353 was in bad shape when I got it. It still has a few major items that need attention. There is a big hole cut in the inner fender for what I assume was a turbo kit and the radiator support is bent pretty bad on the bottom. The engine and engine bay is the next part of the restoration. If I can call it a restoration anymore . The gearhead side of me went overboard and it now rides on a GR-40 kit. Oh well. I have all the stock Saleen parts if I go back in the future.

Thanks for the nice comments Oxford .

seems like it has correct center caps, floor mats, cluster (rather important) and a momo knob possibly?

here's the vin, who has a book handy?

adam dawson 09-26-2013 05:27 AM

yeah it seems legit.

its 97-214

last vin 290 chassis p45 shipped 7-9-97 chrome wheels,355s,speedster,black top.

doesnt seem to have chrome wheels but then again thats not the first time the book has been a little off
or the only time that a saleen was newly delivered with different trim than saleen themselves say they built it..... even if listed on the LOA.

psi365 09-26-2013 02:35 PM

The pony emblems instead of "gt" emblems, no front or rear Saleen graphics are throwing me off. It could very well be legit which is why I posted it in case someone is looking.

I know it is slightly off topic, but did Saleen ever build a bright atlantic blue S351?

Yes, they did. Look up "Victory Blue Saleen". It is BAB. One of my favorites!

tennesseemustangperformance 10-20-2013 02:01 PM

Funny, it was an expensive paint option, even though it was an OEM Ford Mustang color. The only thing Saleen painted in "Victory Blue" were the bumper covers, scoops, skirts, wing, and hood (when opted with the heat extractor hood).
