Just wondering if someone could check if there were any options 3:55 gears ect, and if there is any early owner history. The car is rough but the original front clip was included

Looks like it’s been sitting awhile from the witness marks on the tires.
There was a black car bought out of LA a few years back with similar damage. Someone will remember what car it was. I ‘feel’ this is a different car though. Seems like your car was probably a decent machine before whatever happened. I’m currently looking for a rolling chassis if you don’t end up building it. |

Just the fact there is an interior in that car puts you way ahead. Good luck

Hello and this looks like a great purchase for a project vehicle.
89-0038 was an original 3.55:1 rear gear car. |
Thank you!

If you plan to make this a correct looking driver... you may want to source a vintage Momo steering wheel, the Amco shift knob and a vintage Metra radio bezel for the interior.
Best wishes on project! |

Thank you for the input. I actually have the correct original wheel I pulled from this 89 Saleen in a wrecking yard back in 2015. It was missing the horn button but I do have a period correct ford motorsports button. As for the radio I found the correct Pioneer head unit in of all things a late 80s escort ( sadly no equalizer)

Momo reissued the chrome "Ford" oval logo horn button two or three years ago.
Metra changed the molds for the 1987-93 Ford Mustang stereo installation kit. |

Unfortunately I lost all the pictures I had taken of the car on a old phone ( minus these I texted to a friend) . These are all I had. I do remember the engine Compartment being cabernet red and it appeared original. The firewall tag was gone but you can tell it had been there

I bought that car new in 1989 from Don Kott Ford, owned it until 1998 where I traded it in to Galpin Ford in Van Nuys. Last known history was that it went to auction and was bought by a small corner style dealer in Downey. I reached out in 2014 searching for it as I was hoping it was still alive and perhaps if the owner was looking to sell I could buy it. I found out through this site https://saleenforums.soec.org/showthread.php?t=17890 that someone in San Diego had possession of it and it was painted blue....obviously not. I lost track @ that point. I had to signup again today with an alternate account since my old one must have been disabled as I had no permission to the pages. I should be able to answer most of the questions you have, just PM me or reply back on the board. Congrats
